Job Description
Position Summary: As a Trainer for Physician Coding, you will be responsible for imparting knowledge on coding guidelines to trainees. The bandwidth of training can range from freshers (who are new to the world of coding) to experienced staff who need refreshers or cross training). You should also support on pilots based on business need. Need to work with quality and operations teams to make sure that the final objective of business goals and client satisfaction are met.
Position Qualifications: A person with Bachelors degree who has in-depth knowledge on coding guidelines and with an eye for detail and an ability to analyze the medical records and perform training duties with diligence. As this position can influence people, utmost care of accuracy of information is needed.
CPC certification is mandatory with minimum of 3 years of multispecialty training experience. Should be able to work independently with an in-depth knowledge of the National Coding Guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic and all applicable federal, state, local, and private requirements, policies, and procedures. Understand Medicare requirements with resepct to coding. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication and data analytical skills with the ability to relate and interact effectively with Health Information Management personnel. Have the ability to adapt to new software programs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
o Lead training sessions on current coding information in the coding industry.
o Develop curriculum and training handbooks.
o Create presentations.
o Perform quality assurance reviews to assess comprehension of training efforts.
o Organize and participate in coding meetings.
o Review and respond to coding questions.
o Research updated coding information.
o Communicate changes to coding staff members.
o Conduct coding reviews and training programs to assure coding quality.
o Perform random chart audits.
o Hold regular meetings to communicate new findings.
o Perform analysis of benchmarking profiles.
o Research coding issues that arise.
o Maintain knowledge of ICD10 and CPT classifications and coding of diagnoses and procedures.
o Work closely with operations to support quality delivery
o Create dashboards on training
