Reliance has been actively pursuing breakthrough Algae-to-Oil (“A2O”) technology and its associated emerging business platform. This is aimed at providing a supplemental, renewable source of refinery-ready feedstock – ultimately adding substantially to RIL’s fuels and chemicals production capacity. The effort is already at world-class scale, combining fundamental biology and engineering development at several locations with scale-up piloting and demonstration activities at Gagva and Jamnagar. R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Business Development skills are all needed to intensify the integrated drive toward commercial reality and profitability.
The successful candidate for this role will play a key role in setting technology strategy as related to liquid-solid separations immediately following the algae cultivation stage; this separation enables both product (biomass) recovery and the recovery and recycle of water and nutrients. This role will lead in establishing R&D strategy, particularly the design and specification of experimental trials at bench and pilot scale, and will oversee the execution of these experiments, as well as interpreting and documenting the trials and implications. The role assumes responsibility for oversight of HS&E compliance as well as for quality throughout the execution of the scientific process.

- EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD (Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemical, Biotechnology), 5-10 yr. experience.
- RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
- Process Development, scale-up, technology transfer in Biotech/chemical industry.
- Project lead for at least one Successful process/product development.
