The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary motive of BITS is to “train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information”. The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G.D.Birla – an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation late Mr. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi). What started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing. This university was christened as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani.

Applications are invited from intelligent, motivated and eligible candidates to work as Junior Research Fellow in the following project funded by Centre of Research Excellence in Waste, Water and Energy Management, BITS Pilani.
Project Title: “Anaerobic co-digestion of food waste and organic fraction of municipal solid waste for the production of biogas and concomitant use of biogas as fuel for cooking and spent slurry as fertilizer”
Principal Investigator: Dr. P. Sankar Ganesh, Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences

Project Duration: 1 year (Extendable)
Position Available: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Number of Positions Available: ONE
Essential Qualifications:
Candidate must satisfy at least ONE of the following criteria:
  •  ME/ MTech in Environmental Engineering/ Bioprocess Technology/ Biochemical Engineering/ Biotechnology
  • M.Phil in Biotechnology or Environmental Science or Life Sciences
  • MSc in Biotechnology or Environmental Science or Life Sciences
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Passed CSIR or UGC JRF
  • Outstanding skill set and hands-on experience in anaerobic digestion of organic wastes
Fellowship: Consolidated Rs. 18000/ month
General Term and Condition:
Please note that only qualified and suitable candidates will be called for interview to be held at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus in the last week of March 2016. No TA/ DA will be paid for the interview. The position is temporary and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance for a maximum of three years. The position is coterminous with project.
