Analytical Scientist:
Sea water Analysis;
Analysis of nutrients, phytoplankton, zooplankton and bacterioplankton
Experience in using appropriate equipment to measure:
DO, pH, salinity, alkalinity, conductivity in water
Knowledge in:
Polarography, salinometers, titration, colorimetry and microscopy
Long Description
Job Accountabilities:
- Colorimetric estimation of nutrients such as, Nitrite, Urea, Ammonia, total nitrogen, Orthophosphate, Total phosphate, and Sulphate.
- Experience in measuring DO, pH, salinity, alkalinity, conductivity.
- Experience in handling autoanalyzer, Ion chromatograph, Flowcytometer etc.
- Ability to write SOPs for the experiments carried out.
- Ability to authenticate and validate results.
Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)
Knowledge:
A thorough knowledge in: Microbiological/ Biochemical techniques: colorimetry, polarography, centrifugation, titration, gravimetric analysis and microscopy.
Laboratory skills: Aseptic techniques, handling equipment pertaining to the analyses listed above.
Field Skills: Ability to collect water samples that would represent the entire raceway, smaller and larger ponds for analysis.
Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)
- M.Sc and Ph.D in Biochemistry/Analytical Chemistry/Microbiology, with good practical training. Candidates with only M,Sc degree should have 6 years of research/industry experience. Candidates with experience of handling any one of the equipment such as Flow cytometer / GC/ HPLC / TOC analyser are preferred.
- Proficiency in domain knowledge.
- Experience in analytical techniques.
- Knowledge in statistics and software usage
- Ability to adapt to situations.
- Willing to collaborate and co-operate with co-workers.
