National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.
The Virus Research Center ( VRC ), Pune came into existence in 1952 under the joint auspices of the ICMR and the Rockefeller Foundation, as a part of the global programme of investigations on the arthropod-borne group of viruses. In view of its expanded scope and activities, the VRC was redesignated as the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in 1978.
Eligible candidates are invited to apply for the following posts on the ad hoc research project entitled: “Validation of Immunogenicity of HIV-I Indian Subtype C Vaccine Constructs in Rhesus Macaques And Preclinical Safety Evaluation of Vaccine Constructs in Mice/ Rats And Rabbits”, funded by ICMR. Essential qualification: Graduate in Life Science/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Pharmacy from a recognized university/ institute with two years experience. (or)
Post Graduate in Pharmacy from a recognized university
Post Graduate in Pharmacy from a recognized university
Desirable: Two years experience in Laboratory/ Animal experimentation
Age: As per ICMR guidelines.
Consolidated Salary: Rs.28,755-00 per month (fixed) without any allowances.
Tenure: Initially for 6 months and extendable.
